​On Thursday, February 7, 2019, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services responded to a high-rise fire at 165 Kennedy Road South, Brampton, ON.
 
Residents impacted by the fire found accommodations with family or friends, or visited Century Gardens Recreation Centre at 340 Vodden Street East, which was activated as a Warming Centre for the duration of the incident. 
 
Most residents were able to return to their homes yesterday evening.  However, overnight accommodations were coordinated for residents from twenty-four units that could not be occupied due to fire and flood damage, as well as utility disruptions.
 
It is expected that residents from these units may not be able to return until Monday. Responsibility for these affected residents has been transferred to the Property Manager, who will continue to coordinate accommodations for them.  Brampton Emergency Management Office will remain on-call if support is needed.

Early this morning, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services responded to a high-rise fire at 165 Kennedy Road South, Brampton, ON.

Inspection of the building is now complete. Most residents will be returning back to their homes; however, twenty-four units cannot be occupied tonight. The Region of Peel is coordinating accommodations for those residents who will not be able to stay in their homes this evening.

A warming centre will continue to remain in place at Century Gardens Recreation Centre at 340 Vodden St E, Brampton, ON until 10 pm today.

The safety and well-being of our residents is of utmost importance, and in partnership with the Region of Peel and Peel Regional Police, we are working to ensure those impacted are receiving the support that they need.
