Kick off the holidays with Brampton’s Winter Lights Festival – November 15 and 16

BRAMPTON, ON (November 5, 2019) – Get into the holiday season in downtown Brampton with the annual Winter Lights Festival presented by Northwest Lexus on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16, 2019!

Celebrate the first lighting of the tree in Ken Whillans Square, shop the outdoor holiday market, and enjoy the largest nighttime parade in Canada, Brampton’s Santa Claus Parade, presented by the Rotary Club of Brampton.

Tree Lighting
Friday, November 15 from 6 to 9 pm

The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is Brampton’s official kick-off celebration for the holiday season. At 8 pm, attendees will join a countdown to light over 10,000 Christmas lights on the City’s 60-foot spruce tree in Ken Whillans Square. Visitors can also enjoy free activities, light installations and entertainment all evening long.

Christmas Market
Friday, November 15 from 4 to 10 pm and Saturday, November 16 from 11 am to 11 pm

Start your shopping and get in the holiday spirit at this year’s outdoor Christmas Market, presented by Tire World! Find unique gifts, enjoy a sweet treat and ride the carousel at this year’s market, celebrating the whimsical energy of the holidays by combining the charm of a holiday market with the energy of a winter carnival – all in Garden Square.

Santa Claus Parade
Saturday, November 16 at 5 pm

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the annual Brampton Santa Claus Parade, presented by the Rotary Club of Brampton, is the largest single-day event in the Region of Peel and the largest nighttime parade in Canada! The spectacle of twinkling lights, floats, marching bands, and costume characters runs south along Main Street from Sproule Drive to Elgin Drive.

Free parking is available all weekend long, beginning Friday at 7 pm, in all downtown municipal garages: City Hall, West Tower, Nelson Square, John Street and the Rose Theatre.

Attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to support the Peel Regional Police Toys for Tots campaign; a non-perishable food donation for the Brampton Food Sharing Network; or an item of clothing for donation to the Meridian Credit Union booth, who will donate collected pieces to the Brampton Knights Table. Drop off donations at the City Hall entrance on Main Street during the Friday evening festivities.
