An inspiring event for youth is coming to Brampton!

​​​​​​​City hosting WTF: We The Future symposium and social event to inspire and engage youth ages 14 to 29.

BRAMPTON, ON (November 12, 2019) – WTF has a whole new meaning at the City of Brampton!

On Saturday, November 16, youth ages 14 to 29 are invited to WTF: We The Future, a symposium and social event for youth, at Lester B. Pearson (LBP) Theatre. The event features a range of impactful sessions, a community fair, live entertainment, and more.

Symposium: 4 to 6 pm

Youth can sign up for inspiring and engaging 40-minute info sessions on a range of topics. The following sessions will take place at 4 pm and again at 5 pm.

• Entrepreneurship from the Ground up! with Daniel Lewis, Owner of T By Daniel; Kavita Kapil, CEO & Founder of Bride + Groomed; Shaun Ghulam, CEO of DMinded; and John Lam, Campus Lead of EDGE, Sheridan College
• Civic Action! The Democratic Power of Youth! with Marilyn Verghis, Founder and Executive Director of Vision Brampton
• The Law and You – A Pathway to Understanding and Action with Alex Battick, Lawyer and Notary Public
• 7 Seconds to Make an Impression with Natasha Pisani, Talent Acquisition Advisor at the City of Brampton

As part of the symposium, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with schools, businesses, organizations and the City at a community fair in the library. Exhibitors include Algoma University School of Business & Economics; Brampton Multicultural Community Centre; Sheridan College; Visual Arts Brampton; and more.

Social: 7 to 9 pm
  
The social features a keynote speech from Canadian singer-songwriter and Juno Award nominee Peter Katz, live performances from A New DAEI dance troupe, Reeko Rieffe, Selena Dhillon, and St. Roch Jam Club, and inspirational words from youth advocate Orlando Bowen. Up and coming comedian Supreme Irie is emcee for the night and refreshments will be available.

WTF: We The Future is part of Brampton’s first ever for youth, by youth strategy. The strategy was endorsed unanimously by City Council on June 19. No other strategy of its kind currently exists in Ontario.
