Experience Brampton’s history, heritage and unique cultural spaces during Doors Open 2019.

BRAMPTON, ON (September 16, 2019) – On September 28, 2019, from 10 am to 4 pm, residents and visitors are invited to experience Brampton’s history, heritage and unique cultural spaces at Doors Open. More than 20 of Brampton’s most fascinating facilities will open their doors and welcome the public to explore the stories behind them.

From well-preserved buildings from the Victorian era, to outdoor walking tours, to modern places of worship, there are stories to discover in every Brampton neighbourhood. Experience the history of the armoury, get a backstage tour of Brampton’s theatres, and explore our modern transit system. Each location promises a free, exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at facilities across Brampton.

Doors Open also marks the first opportunity for residents to visit the recently revitalized Lester B. Pearson (LBP) Theatre. This remarkable performance venue boasts enhanced accessibility and safety features, a modern front-of-house area and the latest technical equipment.

Mayor Patrick Brown and Councillors invite residents to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for LBP at 10 am for Doors Open. Residents will have the opportunity to meet the architects, Lebel & Bouliane, enjoy live entertainment, join a tour and explore the upgraded facility.

The Ontario Heritage Trust works with communities across Ontario to open the doors, gates and courtyards of their unique cultural sites each year for Doors Open.

Brampton’s Doors Open takes place during Culture Days weekend from September 27 to 29, adding to a roster of exciting cultural experiences across the city. Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture where residents and visitors can enjoy free, family-friendly activities at locations across Brampton. This year, participating organizations include Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives (PAMA), the Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD), and Brampton Library.
