Brampton welcomes Bike Month with Annual Bike to Work Day Celebration

BRAMPTON, ON (May 21, 2019) – If you haven’t done so already, now is the time to pull out your bike! The City of Brampton and Downtown Brampton BIA are hosting their seventh annual Bike to Work Day event in Garden Square, Downtown Brampton, on May 27 from 7:30 to 9:00 am.

The event marks the start of Bike Month (May 27 to June 28) and celebrates cycling as a healthy, fun and viable option for commuting to work. Attendees can expect to learn more about riding their bikes in Brampton and road safety rules. There will also be free coffee, breakfast, prizes and complementary bike safety checks.

The Bike to Work event will start at four different Brampton locations at 7:15 am and end in Garden Square. Cyclists interested in participating can register online here.

Vendors and exhibitors include the Region of Peel, the Downtown Brampton BIA, Peel Regional Police, Brampton Transit, the Brampton cycling community and several downtown businesses.

Bike to Work Day is an annual celebration observed nationally, regionally and locally to promote, inspire and empower residents to take their bike to work.

Bike Safety Tips:

1. Always wear a helmet - it's the law for those 18 years of age or younger
2. Follow the rules of the road and obey all traffic signs
3. Pass vehicles on the left only
4. Stay out of blind spots at the sides and rear of a vehicle
5. Be visible at night
6. Use proper hand signals
