Celebrate Brampton’s diversity at these upcoming events

Join us for Sikh Heritage Month and the City’s first Community Iftar.

BRAMPTON, ON (April 25, 2019) – The City of Brampton is celebrating its diversity through two events in the coming weeks. All residents are invited to a celebration of our Sikh community on April 27 and the City’s first Community Iftar on May 16.

Sikh Heritage Month

The City of Brampton has proclaimed April as Sikh Heritage Month in recognition of the important contributions that Sikh Canadians have made in Brampton and across the country. Join us on April 27 at 5:30 pm in the City Hall Atrium to sample traditional cuisine, network and mingle, and listen to inspiring speakers. The Sikh Heritage Month Foundation’s closing event will follow, featuring live entertainment, cultural information, an artist marketplace and more.

Community Iftar

Ramadan Mubarak! The City of Brampton is hosting its first Community Iftar on May 16 at 7 pm in Garden Square. This event recognizes the holy month of Ramadan with a free community dinner at sunset, when Muslims break their daily fast. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a spiritual stage program, cultural displays, and special guests, followed by prayer and a traditional meal.

Quantities are limited, so please RSVP by May 12 at www.brampton.ca/events.

These events are part of Brampton’s Community Recognition Program, a series of cultural celebrations that the City is hosting throughout the year to honour Brampton’s diversity. These events are a great opportunity for residents to learn about other cultures and get to know the many communities that make up our city.
