Globally-recognized qualifications for asset management now offered in Brampton

BRAMPTON, ON – As the first Asset Management Training and Innovation Centre in Canada offering globally-recognized qualifications, the City of Brampton is pleased to offer comprehensive training to municipal staff to help them adopt international best practices and meet the new asset management planning requirements.

Effective January 1, 2018, Ontario Regulation 588/2017: Asset Management Planning for Municipal Infrastructure requires that every municipality develop a strategic asset management policy by July 1, 2019, and a phased asset management plan by July 1, 2024.

Last year, the City of Brampton launched the Asset Management Training and Innovation Centre in partnership with the Asset Management Academy (AMA). Endorsed by the Institute of Asset Management (IAM), the global entity for asset management professionals, the City of Brampton became the first-ever training and examination venue in Canada offering training courses focused on international best practices in alignment with the ISO 55000 standards for asset management.

As Ontario municipalities develop staff capacity to undertake asset management planning, the training and networking opportunities offered at the Centre will advance their asset management planning knowledge, while helping them meet the new asset management planning regulation requirements.

Training courses are open to candidates from both public and private sector organizations across Canada seeking the globally-recognized qualifications: IAM Certificate and IAM Diploma.
