Add your flair to a Muskoka chair for Brampton’s Canada 150 legacy project

BRAMPTON, ON:  The City of Brampton is calling all artists, local schools, arts organizations and individuals to submit applications to participate in Brampton’s Canada 150 legacy project.

The Muskoka Chair Project encourages Brampton residents to create and decorate 150 Muskoka chairs as functional art pieces to celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary. Participants may build chairs from pre-fabricated kits provided by the City, or design innovative chairs from scratch. Participation in the project is funded by the Government of Canada and free to successful applicants. Community groups, local schools, and arts organizations are invited to apply and showcase their skills. Application deadline is March 10, 2017.

The theme of this project is “strong, proud and free” words that characterize present-day Canada. This project aspires to connect Brampton to the nation, build a sense of national and local pride, and allow all Brampton residents the opportunity to be a part of the Canada 150 national experience.

The City’s annual Canada Day celebration will host an unveiling of a select number of the chairs on July 1, 2017 at Chinguacousy Park.

Funding received is part of the Canada 150 Community Projects Program to celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary.
