BRAMPTON, ON – Illegal promotional signs are frustrating for residents and detract from the beauty of their neighbourhoods. Is something being done about these signs? Read on to find out.
Myth: No one does anything about illegal signs.
Fact: In 2016, the City removed more than 19,000 illegal signs from boulevards, traffic and light posts and other public places. More than 56 companies were convicted in court for posting illegal signs.
Myth: Residents can’t do anything about it.
Fact: You can make difference in our community. When you see an illegal sign, call or email the location to 311. City staff will remove the illegal signs, and will carry out an investigation to potentially lay charges against the companies that posted them.
Myth: Garage sale signs are illegal
Fact: Not if you post them in any of the 100 plus designated locations around the city. These sign sleeves can be used for community postings such as garage sales, missing pet, neighbourhood BBQ etc.
