Key Deliverables

  • Leads planning for the strategic direction of Fire and Emergency Services in a growing and diverse community, and aligns with a future-ready mindset.
  • As a key member of the Corporate Leadership Team sees the bigger picture for the future of Brampton, is able to make broader organizational connections that deliver results based on intentional collaboration.
  • Oversees operating and capital budget submissions including strategic workforce planning and responds to, and anticipates community needs.
  • Establishes and maintains policies and procedures in accordance with municipal by-laws, provincial and federal legislation and in accordance with the Office of the Fire Marshall.
  • Proactive management of fire prevention and emerging fire safety issues. Conducts or manages studies as required to present to stakeholders.

  • Provides leadership to the team including mentoring, guidance, coaching and performance management.
  • Holds self and leaders accountable, builds trust and confidence, and provides support to enable growth and development.
  • Builds and maintains a positive workplace culture of trust, integrity, transparency and respect.
  • Fosters collaboration and mutual respect amongst all team contributors.
  • Provides recommendations to City Council, senior Corporate staff, members of the public, external planning agencies and private sector interests.
  • Builds and establishes partnerships based on trust across the organization to develop strategic direction and resolve complex operational issues.
  • Breaks down organizational boundaries and collaborates with business units to drive progress.
  • Builds strong relationships with peers in the Region of Peel including other Fire Services, Police and Paramedic Services.
  • Point person for external media for high priority emergencies and incidents.
  • Actively participates in internal and external stakeholder relationship building.
