Media Release: Help create a smooth ride in Brampton. Take our survey.

BRAMPTON, ON: Now’s the right time to let the City know your feedback on taxis, limousines and ride-sharing services (e.g. Uber etc.) in Brampton. As part of a larger review of the industry, the City has launched an online ride review survey at www.brampton.ca and is inviting public input to help shape new regulations. The survey closes on August 31.

The City licenses and monitors taxis and limousines. However, the current operations of ride-sharing services are not compliant with City by-laws. The review will help create a level-playing field for all
for–hire operators, while keeping public safety and consumer protection as key priorities. The survey covers several areas, including safety, accessibility, role of technology, and fares.

“We would like to see people move around the city with greater ease. If there are ways for us to improve the for-hire ride industry, we’d like to hear from you. Please take the ride review survey and help Council make informed decisions on how to serve your needs more efficiently,” said City Councillor Gurpreet Dhillon.

As part of the review, the City has started engaging the industry through stakeholder meetings. Combining that feedback with responses from the public survey, staff will make recommendations to Council in late fall.

FAQs and more information are available on the City website.
