Animal Services

expandBarn Attendant: Entry Level

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the care to various livestock and daily barn operations
  • Run the Pony Ride Program and assist with the Petting Zoo Program
  • Perform basic grounds and housekeeping duties, including garbage collection, litter picking and sorting recyclables
  • Assist to clean and disinfect public washrooms
  • Assist with the set up and dismantling of special events
  • Provide exceptional customer service

Qualifications:

  • Current 8 Hour First Aid / CPR Certificate
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Health & Safety practices, an asset
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts – days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to wear and use personal safety equipment and clothing
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check, at their own expense, prior to commencing employment

expandBarn Attendant: Senior Level

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides care to various livestock and performs daily barn operations
  • Complete daily opening and closing duties of the barn
  • Supervise Pony Ride Program including assist and supervise Petting Zoo Program
  • Perform basic grounds and housekeeping duties, including garbage collection, litter picking and sorting recyclables
  • Clean and disinfect public washrooms
  • Safe and efficient usage, care and maintenance of tools and equipment that include: truck, tractor, gator, golf cart, power sweeper, string trimmer and push mower; reporting any defects to immediate supervisor
  • Assist with the set up and dismantling of special events
  • Provide exceptional customer service

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education
  • 1 year experience in farm animal care
  • Current 8 Hour First Aid / CPR Certificate
  • Valid Ontario non - probationary Class G Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Health & Safety practices
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts – days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to wear and use personal safety equipment and clothing
  • Ability to obtain a City of Brampton Equipment Operators Permit

expandChing Park Horticulture Maintenance

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform horticulture duties within the greenhouses and show houses - water, weed, fertilize, transplant, ventilate, pot up, dead head, setup displays and maintain all greenhouses and show houses as required
  • Prepare, plant and maintain all display beds within the park (including watering, fertilization cultivation, weeding deadheading, edging, rolling , manual aerating , rotilling, dethatching, raking, top dressing, over seeding, sodding small area’s in formal gardens.
  • Cleaning of water fountain
  • Weed removal throughout the park (mechanical and manual)
  • Set up and dismantling of special events, i.e. wedding ceremonies and photography in the chapel and tropical house
  • Perform parking control duties; maintain and direct traffic flow during wedding ceremonies and pictures
  • Maintain cleanliness of washrooms, lunch room, and storage sheds at the greenhouse and park storage facilities

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education Diploma/certificate in Horticulture, an asset
  • Horticulture maintenance experience
  • Current 8 Hour First Aid / CPR Certificate
  • Valid Ontario non - probationary Class G1 Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Health & Safety practices
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts – days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to wear and use personal safety equipment and clothing

  • Safe and efficient usage, care and maintenance of tools and equipment that include: ½ ton truck, riding mower, gator/Cushman, golf cart, string trimmer, push mower, backpack blower and power sweeper; reporting any defects to immediate supervisor
  • Perform parking control duties; maintain and direct traffic flow
  • Assist with the set up and dismantling of special events
  • Preparation of ball diamonds and sports fields for play
  • Provide exceptional customer service

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education
  • 6 months experience in a park environment
  • Current 8 Hour First Aid / CPR Certificate
  • Valid Ontario non-probationary Class G Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Health & Safety practices
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts – days, evenings, weekends and holidays

Rate of Pay:

$11.00 to $13.00 per hour

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality food services following operating and food preparation standards
  • Opening and closing procedures
  • Accountable for cash handling procedures including balancing at the end of the shift
  • Provide exceptional customer service by following the 5-step service program
  • Maintain cleanliness standards of equipment and area
  • Complete daily inventory spoilage report and all inventory functions/reports
  • Order, receive and check stock
  • Assists in secondary orientation and follow up training of junior staff
  • Assists with special events as required

Qualifications:

  • Grade 11 education
  • 2 years sales/service experience
  • 18 years of age or older (bartender only)
  • Point-of Sale/Computer skills       
  • Previous cash handling experience
  • Smart Serve Training / Certificate
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Customer service training
  • POS/Computer skills, an asset
  • Proven problem solving and conflict resolution skills with the ability to use sound judgment and diplomacy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with exceptional customer service skills
  • Solid planning, organizational and prioritizing skill

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality food services following operating and food preparation standards
  • Verify floats, cash handling and balance at end of shift
  • Product merchandising and record spoilage
  • Provide exceptional customer service by following the 5-step service program
  • Maintain cleanliness standards of equipment and area
  • Administrative duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Grade 9 education
  • Previous cash handling and sales experience, an asset
  • Customer service training
  • Excellent communication  and customer service skills
  • A desire to work in the service industry
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Standards

  • Provide administrative support to the Facility Clerk
  • Assist training Customer Service Representatives I
  • Balance and verify daily revenue
  • Complete administrative paperwork and reports

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Education or equivalent
  • 1 year experience in a recreation/office environment
  • Intermediate to advanced Computer skills (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Excellent Customer Service and Communication skills
  • Able to deal with difficult situations in a professional manner
  • Good decision making and analytical skills
  • Able to work independently or part of a team

expandFacility Attendant: Entry Level

Major Responsibilities:

  • Cleans and maintains facility: sweeps, washes and strips floors, vacuums, washes windows and doors, clean washrooms, change rooms, empties garbage, etc.
  • Liaises with the public to provide information regarding the facility, to arrange room rentals, etc.  Monitors user functions to ensure that building security is maintained and the rental contract is adhered to.  
  • Sets-up meeting rooms for user functions including large weddings, dances etc.  Cleans rooms and takes down chairs, tables, etc. following each function.
  • Records incidents of injury, vandalism, etc.
  • Maintains building grounds, shovels snow, clears ice in winter, landscaping in summer, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Completed Grade 9 education
  • Current First Aid / CPR Certificate
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Health and safety standards knowledge
  • Ability to perform shift work
  • Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal safety equipment and clothing
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check, at their own expense, prior to commencing employment

Rate of Pay:
