As a Regional Councillor for Wards 7 and 8, I am immensely proud to live and work in a city that truly works beautifully. Brampton is a wonderful city offering numerous opportunities, facilities and services to all its citizens. Be it business opportunities or recreation facilities, entertainment or shopping, sports or outdoor lifestyle, our city has it all.

Brampton is Canada’s second fastest growing and 11th largest city. Our diverse community represents more than 175 distinct ethnic backgrounds who speak as many as 70 different languages. We take pride in our diversity and our rich heritage. And it is this diversity that strengthens our community.

In 2010, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Bramalea, a community of neighbourhoods, with a number of events. It was a great opportunity for all our residents to come together and get to know the different cultures, races and religions that are represented in our city. Each and every one makes their contribution to this city, making it a wonderful place in which to live, work, play and pray.  And as we get to know each other, we realise more and more that we in fact have a lot in common! Together we weave an incredible patchwork quilt that we call our “quality of life”.

From environmental initiatives to community partnerships, city beautification to festive celebrations, our city is always alive and pulsating to the tune of different events and activities throughout the year. Our city holds the Communities in Blooms international title and the World Health Organization’s Safe Community designation. Nationally, it is recognized for its WinterLights Celebrations. In 2010, not only did we receive a five star rating for our WinterLights activities and events, we also received the Goodwill Program Award. This award is for taking care of the underprivileged by offering many programs and activities by the municipality and community groups. Although each of the organizations works separately, it all comes together without duplication. We have a lot to be proud of.

We encourage our residents to keep this community vibrant and safe, especially for our youth. Our recreation centres offer numerous programs that will keep our children gainfully occupied. Get involved! Find a program that suits you and your family and enjoy the facilities and services offered by the city.
