IMPORTANT NOTICE: Insurance Provisions

In response to economic conditions within the Insurance Industry, the Corporation of the City of Brampton developed an Insurance Policy, approved by City Council on March 24, 2003.

The policy makes sure that insurance providers meet a minimum standard of 'B+' as rated by A.M. Best, 'baa' as rated by Moody's or 'BBB' as rated by Standard Poor's.

All insurance certificates that the City holds will be honoured until they expire, when the City requires insurance providers to renew policies and meet the insurance policy standards.

The City also requires developers to have pollution/environmental liability coverage as part of each subdivision agreement.

Site Plan Insurance Certificate	Requires $3,000,000 in Commercial General Liability and $1,000,000 in Motor Vehicle Liability
Subdivision Insurance Certificate	Requires $5,000,000 in Commercial General Liability, $5,000,000 in Environmental Pollution Liability, and $1,000,000 in Motor Vehicle Liability
Consultants Tender/Contract Certificate of Insurance	Requires proof of $1,000,000 Professional Liability Insurance and Commercial General Liability Insurance showing the Corporation of the City of Brampton added as an additional insured
Contractor's Tender/Contract Certificate of Insurance	Requires proof of $3,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance showing the Corporation of the City of Brampton added as an additional insured
Stationary Business Licensing Certificate of Insurance	Requires proof of $1,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance
Horse Riding Establishments Licensing Certificate of Insurance	Requires proof of $2,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance
Mobile Sign Licensing Certificate of Insurance	Requires proof of $2,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance
Newspaper Box Licensing Certificate of Insurance	Requires proof of $2,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance showing the Corporation of the City of Brampton added as an additional insured
Tenants Certificate of Insurance	Requires proof of $3,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance and $500,000 Tenant's Legal Liability Insurance showing the Corporation of the City of Brampton as an additional insured
Facility Rental Insurance Certificate (Sport – Low/Medium Risk)	Proof of $2,000,000 General Liability Insurance coverage
