2013 Brampton Farmers’ Market Kicks Off Saturday, June 22

Tuesday, Jun 04 2013, 08:00

On Saturday, June 22, the Brampton Farmers’ Market will kick off its 2013 season in downtown Brampton.  An initiative of the Economic Development Office, the Market will be held each Saturday, rain or shine, from 7 am to 1 pm on Main Street until October 12. Offering delicious produce, meats, baked goods, artisan crafts and more, as well as great entertainment for the entire family, the Brampton Farmers’ Market is the place to be each weekend!

This year at the Market you’ll find eight new vendors selling a wide array of products, from lamb to gourmet marshmallows and food cart breakfasts to tart cherry juice.  The Market will continue to build on 2012’s expansion into Ken Whillans Square and Main Street south of John Street with two new organic farmers: La Samaritaine Crefif and Akachi Farms.  These farmers will bring an assortment of produce, including African vegetables such as sokoto hot peppers and African spinach.

Two vendors from last year’s Market, macaronZ and Gypsy Queen, have opened businesses in the downtown. You will be able to find them at the Market each week, macaronZ selling their delicious macaronz, cupcakes and other baked goods and Gypsy Café selling a variety of fresh breads.

There will be entertainment at the Market from 10 am to 12 pm in Garden Square and a variety of themed activities, as well as community groups, in Ken Whillans Square each week.  The first two weeks of entertainment include Tyse and Juvon Taylor on opening day and The Rock School – a local downtown business – on June 29, our Canada Day Celebration.

Free parking is available all day Saturdays at the four municipal parking garages in the downtown: City Hall, Nelson Square, Market Square and John Street.
