Toronto Global launched on February 3, a new investment attraction agency dedicated to showcasing and leveraging the unique, multi-sector strengths of the Toronto Region to drive Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and business growth.
The new organization is a partnership between the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Growth, the Cities of Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton, and the regional municipalities of Halton, York and Durham.
“Brampton is a key contributor to the highly successful regional story that Toronto Global will take world-wide, says Mayor Linda Jeffrey. “We have been working very hard with our regional partners and senior government on this new approach to deliver innovative and collaborative solutions to maximize the successful entry of international investors into the GTA and Canadian marketplace.”
Toronto Global’s team of experienced business advisors will promote the value proposition of the entire Toronto Region to international investors under one umbrella, one brand and one unified message. Toronto Global has been working with all partners, including Brampton Economic Development, to gather critical business sector and community information.
On January 13, Brampton hosted a Toronto Global team on a familiarization tour of Brampton, touring business parks, educational institutions, the downtown, the Queen St. central corridor and the newly-opened Peel Memorial Hospital.
Toronto Global also had the opportunity to peak inside two prominent Brampton companies, Survalent Technology and ItalPasta, as well as Sheridan College’s CAMDT (Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Design Technology) lab. We thank these organizations for opening their doors to this tour, which so thoroughly demonstrated Brampton’s diversity, talent, innovation and ambition in the key sectors of Information Technology, Food and Beverage Processing and Advanced Manufacturing, and Human Health and Science.
Lifestyle and cultural aspects of Brampton – an important component in the decision-making process of investors from other parts of the world – were also highlighted, including healthcare, theatres, parks, trails, recreation centres and more.
“We have high expectations of Toronto Global,” says Mayor Jeffrey. “We are committed to working in a close partnership with to support the mutual goal of growing the regional economy by attracting investment.”
