Peel Memorial Centre Study

Exciting things are happening in the Human Health and Sciences sector in Brampton. The Peel Memorial Centre (PMC) represents a major redevelopment opportunity for Brampton and the Downtown. A redevelopment of the former Peel Memorial Hospital, the centrepiece medical facility opened in early 2017. More than $500 million has been invested in the 350,000 sq. ft. urgent care facility that is estimated to see 40,000 visitors annually.

The area surrounding PMC is envisioned as a pedestrian friendly campus with a focus on health care, education, open spaces, and complementary commercial and residential development. The mandate of the PMC, together with other drivers, can have a significantly positive impact on the character and development of the surrounding area and community.

The purpose of the study is to:

  • Identify the economic and market opportunities of the PMC lands and its relationship with the surrounding the PMC Precinct and the City of Brampton;
  • Measure the economic impact of developing the PMC lands and surrounding precinct;
  • Define the role of local and provincial government in effecting incremental economic growth.
