Parks, Culture and Recreation Master Plan
Significant growth, community complexity, changing trends have created considerable pressure on the resources required to maintain Brampton's excellent leisure services system. The City of Brampton's response to addressing these issues is the development of a strategic Parks, Culture and Recreation Master Plan to guide the City in its role as a leader, supporter and partner in the development and delivery of positive leisure experiences for all residents.

Parks, Culture and Recreation Master Plan Report (Draft)
|
Master Plan Status (November 2008)
On November 5, 2008, Committee of Council passed a resolution that "received" the Strategic Master Plan Report (noted left). The Report represented the detailed "recommendations" portion of the Parks, Culture and Recreation Master Plan exercise. This document was released for public comment last November 2007. It responded to the input and observations made through the formal consultation phase of the study process – as documented in the Consolidated Technical Report.
The "receipt" of the document means that it will be reserved for "internal reference only" – used by staff as a guide in the planning and programming of parks, culture and recreation services.
Next Steps - Creation of an Overview Brochure (Fall/Winter 2009)
Recognizing that elements of the Strategic Master Plan Report must be "approved" by Council to support and guide other municipal documents, such as the Official Plan, staff will work on the preparation of a companion "Overview" document. This document will be the public face of the Parks, Culture and Recreation Master Plan and communicate:
- The Master Plan's Vision and Key Messages.
- The Strategic Directions the City will take in the area of parks, culture and recreation.
- Provide an update on the progress the City has experienced in implementing many of these strategies.
The "overview" brochure is anticipated that this document should be available in early 2010.
Get Involved
While the creation of the Master Plan is effectively completed, the planning of the City's parks, culture and recreation services is an ongoing task, for which public input is always welcome. Dynamic planning and implementation will ensure that the City continues to respond, in an appropriate way, to the needs of Bramptonians and others who use the City's facilities and services. We encourage you to continue to share your ideas, questions or thoughts at anytime by e-mailing us at parc@brampton.ca. We will ensure that we respond to you in a timely fashion and/or, make sure that your comments are directed to the most appropriate people in the corporation.
