Community Block Plans
Community Block Plans are required for those areas identified on Schedule “H” of the City’s Official Plan. Community Block Plans implement the policies of the City Secondary Plans and the recommendations of the subwatershed study on a Sub-area basis, by co-coordinating completion of detailed component studies that include environmental, servicing, transportation, growth management analysis and approvals, and community design documents (see below). Community block plans assist in co-coordinating the delivery of services and infrastructure, allocation of development priority, layout of roads and the location and configuration, character, size and urban form of parks, institutional, commercial and industrial sites and layout/function of open space corridors, valleylands, woodlots and other natural features including stormwater management ponds.
Community Block Plans will form the basis of Community Block Plan amendments and will be developed on the basis of a two stage planning process which includes Stage One – Approval of the Block Plan Concept and Stage Two – Finalize the Community Block Plan.

Community Design Guidelines (Block Plan):
As per the Community Design Process, community design documents are required at both the Secondary Plan and Block Plan stages. A Community Design Framework document is prepared at the Secondary Plan Stage and then, at the Block Plan stage, the proposed community design elements are enhanced and further detailed in a Community Design Guideline. The approved Block Plans and supporting Community Design Guideline documents for each Block Plan area, are linked in the table below
