The Dominion Bell

John Tayler & Co. Loughborough - 1913 - Gage Park
The Bell was installed in 1913 as part of the clockwork in the tower of the Dominion Building, 8 Queen Street East.  It was cast by John Tayler & Co., Loughborough, Leicester, England.  The Bell was restored and installed at this location by Benson and Hedges Tobacco Company as part of the company’s   contribution to the Centennial celebration of the Town of Brampton​

The Veteran

Jim Menken, 2005 (reinstated in 2013) - Public Commission
The Veteran was carved in 2005 in honour of the National Year of the Veteran, from the trunk of dying red oak tree that had stood for over a century. The statue is modelled on Bill Bettridge, a decorated Veteran of World War II and survivor of Operation Overlord, the D-Day landing in Normandy, France that ultimately lead to the end of the war. It stands in silent tribute to the many men and women of Brampton who served and continue to serve our nation in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions around the world so that we may live in freedom and in peace.​

In Greek Mythology, was a mountain nymph chased by Pan to the edge of a river.  In order to save herself, she appealed to the goddess to change her into reeds. Pan, disconsolate when he cannot find her, gathers the reeds together to form a panpipe and plays music to assuage his grief. ​

Andrew Owen - 2012 - ArtPrint Pop Up Art Installation - Heritage Theatre
Andrew Owen of AO1 Creative is an established visual artist and community arts educator, whose multimedia work has been showcased across North America and Asia.  Andrew’s focus as a public artist is on the creation of community engaged collaborative artworks: projects that are created for and with the public.

Andrew’s Untitled installation on the Heritage Theatre reflects his current form of artistic practice, a technique known as “photo-cubic tableaux”. Photo-cubic tableaux are best described as larger than life photographic compositions, assembled from a number of life size 1:1 scale shots.  Untitled is a modern artistic representation of our diverse and colourful community. Untitled was made in collaboration with downtown Brampton retailers, the Brampton Cricket League, the Brampton Concert Band, the Brampton Thunder Canadian Women’s Hockey League team, and City of Brampton Fire and Emergency Services,

Urban Bouquet

​Charles Johnston - 2013 - Nelson Street
 “Urban Bouquet” explores the idea of the city as an ecosystem that expresses itself through its blossoming cultural sectors. In this vibrant colourful realm, beauty abounds, and collective possibilities are endless.

For this mural, artist Charles Johnston has drawn on Brampton’s ‘Flower City’ designation and one of the City’s signature initiatives - Heritage, Arts, Culture and Entertainment (HACE) Downtown Brampton Creative Economy Plan. Mr. Johnston skillfully evolved these elements into a dynamic relationship amongst? Imagery, symbolism and colour. Monumental floral bouquets and vignettes depicting the City’s creative urban culture interact through representational and colourful graphic imagery.
