Located in the Bramalea Civic Centre at 150 Central Park Drive, Lester B. Pearson Theatre, affectionately known as LBP, has been home to community organizations and productions since 1973. Through Brampton's Vision 2040
and the Culture Master Plan
, the City has established a community-driven vision for the future of arts and culture in the city. These guiding documents call for investment in cultural and community spaces, including the Lester B. Pearson Theatre.
The New LBP
The revitalization will enhance accessibility and health and safety features, upgrade technical equipment, and create a more attractive, welcoming space, contributing to the connectivity of Brampton’s cultural ecology. The venue closed in December 2018 to undergo this exciting transformation. Construction will begin in February 2019, and the theatre will reopen in Fall 2019.
The City is pleased to be partnering with Lebel & Bouliane as the Architectural Consultant and BDA Inc. as General Contractor. Both are experienced in creating top quality creative spaces and performing arts venues.
The construction project at LBP will continue to enhance and expand the options available to local performing arts groups, including a 415-seat theatre, and a studio space suitable for rehearsals and creative workshops. Included in this plan is a redesigned lobby area, which will not only make the theatre a more appealing venue, but will also serve as a community gathering place for all visitors to the Civic Centre.
